Since the beginning of the epidemic, my girlfriend and I have been separated due to our respective study and work arrangements - she has been studying in New York while I have been working in Beijing.

I took these photos after being apart from my partner for countless days and nights. They collectively express my loneliness and confusion, yearning, helplessness, insecurity, and desire for her company in a relationship fueled only by visions of a better future. These complex emotions are not only felt by couples in long-distance relationships but also anytime when we surrender ourselves and our feelings to others…when we love.  

Whenever I am alone at home, facing a small electronic screen, listening to her voice from a place 12 hours disconnected from mine, I can imagine that she is beside me.
