About Me
Shaohan Fang 方少韩 (b. Fujian, China) is a photographer and visual artist who holds an MFA in Photography, Video, and Related Media from the School of Visual Arts in New York, and previously earned a master’s degree in engineering and a double degree in photography from the Communication University of China.
Working primarily with staged photography and installation, her practice explores themes of identity, intimacy, and the individual’s position within familial and social structures. Rooted in personal experience and everyday observation, her work often focuses on moments of emotional tension, silence, and disconnection, reflecting how tradition, expectation, and a sense of belonging quietly shape private relationships.
Her work has been exhibited internationally in cities including New York, Paris, Los Angeles, Limassol, and Beijing, and has been presented alongside artists such as David Lynch, Christopher Makos, and Roger Ballen. Her images have also appeared in publications including Vogue Italia, Harper’s Bazaar, Numéro Switzerland, Cosmopolitan China, and Flanelle Magazine. Alongside her artistic practice, she remains active in the commercial field, collaborating with brands including Gucci, Dior, Zegna, Burberry, Bvlgari, Tom Ford, and Loewe.
